Snow – Christmas tree in living room – and…..a cold. Yuck!

That’s okay, though. There will be a fire in the fireplace later, and there is so much eye candy out there for the holidays, one can’t help but be inspired! Below are a couple of new caricatures.  Check ’em out. By the way, a caricature cannot be re-gifted! Time is passing quickly; if you have anyone you’d like to see tooned, please let know asap! Merry Christmas!

Can you believe it’s almost time for Thanksgiving?

As I look at old family photos while looking for new artistic inspiration, I am overcome with thanksgiving for my family. I am posting a picture of my Great Grandmother, Georgia Anne Louise Gober. I share her middle name through about six generations, but wonder what her times and culture were like. My Grandmother told me she would have supported the suffragettes – and she lived to be almost 100. God Bless to everyone; may you all have a permanent and joyful memory of someone in your family. If you are living in the United States; have a roof over your head (whether it is paid for or not); a little savings; enough to eat, you have more than the majority of the world’s population. With our thankfulness comes responsibility. Using whatever talents we possess, let us not be the generation that drops the baton.

It’s Fall in Georgia – new scenery, work and enthusiasm!

another commission for a new Mom

It may not be much cooler, but the leaves are falling – which makes me more enthusiastic about drawing! While drawing caricatures at a birthday party this last weekend, several of the young girls confided they wanted to be artists when they grew up. I urged them to keep practicing and it would happen. We must do all we can to encourage children that being an artist is not an arbitrary title; it is a right of everyone who wishes to create! Here are some samples of my work; take a look.

Hello world!

Good Afternoon to everyone! Welcome to Georgia Grown Art, home to art in the caricature world, samples of artwork in development, and musings on same. I have been drawing since I was three years old (if you had identical twins you would find a way to keep them busy, too) and never stopped. As I began to learn, I became enthralled with cartoons; silhouettes; watercolors and calligraphy – amongst others! So relax and ‘set’ awhile! There will be stories and ramblings posted with my samples, and hopefully, you will find something to make you smile!
